Alison is a seasoned freelance translator with over 15 years of experience, specialising in translating from German to English. Originally from Wales, she has been a Londoner for some time, and she holds a PhD in Phonetics and an MPhil in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge, where she also completed her First Class BA degree in German and Spanish.
Alison’s academic background is complemented by her practical experience in the software industry, where she worked as a Java developer, team leader, and business analyst. Since 2009, Alison has focused on freelance translation, specialising in technical and IT translation, with additional strengths in some esoteric areas, such as cookery– and knitting-related translation. The combination of her technical expertise and language skills allows Alison to deliver precise and culturally nuanced translations.
In addition to her freelance translation work, Alison is one of our contributing authors to our Rosetta Translation blog, where she shares her insights on language trends, translation challenges, and industry best practices. In her spare time, Alison is also a passionate long-distance runner.
